I see what you mean. For some things you have to spell it out. For other things, the plan checker will require you to add it--so why fight it?

Re: Well Duh moments
For people who have never used foot and inch measurements, it seems totally incomprehensible, illogical, unreadable but very exotic. For me as a CAD program developer, it is hell to manage these units... Why do some people still use these units? Because this is what the trades use and what they are...

Re: Well Duh moments
I actually use decimal inches when doing remodel plans, since I don't do metric except for counter tops.... I set my range finder to decimal inches. Since house plans from field measurements are only going to be so accurate due to finishes and squaring up an existing non-square house, I only interpo...

Re: Best Post PowerCADD Residential Drafting Application?
I've had to deal with imported interior elevations from a 3d based program (not sure which). What a mess. The thing is I can knock out a section of a building pretty quickly in PowerCADD. I don't need to try to make a section from a model --which is necessarily encumbered with non-essential and misl...

Re: Best Post PowerCADD Residential Drafting Application?
I am very very very relieved to know PowerCADD is coming back and when its 100% available, I will jettison Vectorworks and never look back. There is just no better CAD for small projects, in my opinion. That's discouraging! Did you try some other software, going for a more basic 2d approach? Yeah, ...

Re: Best Post PowerCADD Residential Drafting Application?
I haven't tried it but I know of people who have used it successfully for design on one hand and builders who like as well to develop their construction approach.

Re: Autocad
Hi John, What was your result with RealCADD? The interface looks a lot like PowerCADD. The website looks suspiciously out of date (so I would be concerned it's not being developed any longer).johncruet48 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 8:08 pmI tried MacDraft, RealCADD, and, lately, Morpholio Trace, which runs only on my iPad.

Re: Archicad
Which ArchiCAD version do you get? Is there a version for multiple seats? It seems not. So every seat (computer?) is $2700 a year? Would there be any need for the "collaborate" version if there are only two people using it? I thought there was a built in Renderer. I also read that it use Redshift re...
