Keystroke Command - Edit Issue

Post by danfinazzo » Mon Apr 01, 2024 5:43 pm

Any help would be appreciated . . .

For some unknown reason or ability I cannot get the following to work:

Preface:
1. With the Edit WIndow Open along with other dialog windows
2. Keystroke Commands Set as shown:

Issue:
1. Click on a line or any object with Edit Properties and hit tab button
In the past one of the fields in the active Edit Window would become active and I could tab around and eventually get to one I wish to change
Now nothing happens

2. The ⌘E only activates the Edit Paragraph Box Text when TEXT is selected - of which I have no issue with have always used this in the manner.

Thanks in advance . . . for any advice !!

It appears you have assigned 'tab' as an Edit shortcut. That means when you hit the tab key the edit command is re-triggered, putting you at square one of Editing again, rather than advancing you to the next field in the Edit window. Suggest you delete the tab as an Edit shortcut. PowerCADD automatically allows tabbing through the fields with the tab key once the Edit command is invoked.

Matt - thanks for the feedback . . .

However this does not work - TAB has no ability to pop up in the EDIT window.

In fact the EDIT... menu is never active unless I have selected TEXT

Back to the Drawing Board :)

The Edit Window and the Edit Menu are different things. Once you tab into one of PowerCADDs little windows to (edit) some numerical value, TABbing steps you through the text fields there.

Editing text is a whole different thing.

Dan,

What version of PowerCADD are you using?

It might also be worth doing a restart of your Mac.

Restart of Mac and PCadd did not help

Next steps is to maybe re-install PCadd ??

PCadd just intolerable without Tabbing in activate the EDIT DIalog Box contents . . .

Dan,

It may not be the cause of the problem but you don't have the latest WildTools. Get the latest (and last ever) version, 10.6 here:

http://www.seqair.com/WildTools/Downloads2/index.html

It's possible your copy of PowerCADD is corrupted so you could update that first from this link and then install the latest WildTools from above:

Dan,

I believe a similar issue happened to me recently regarding the loss of TAB to enter and move through fields in the EDIT window.
my fix was to erase the Preference folder in the hidden library. Unfortunately, this returns you to defaults for key commands and makes you "register" again with serial numbers unless you keep a STABLE backup of these files from a time before you had issues. Tt also kills your window arrangements for tools. But a bit of spring cleaning isn't so bad every now and again... rebuilding your shortcuts is super annoying and impossible to recall until you go to activate them through muscle memory and realize you forgot to reset them.

big proponent of having a backup of preference folder!
