Re: transparent background in PDF

I didn't think PDF had transparent background. Every time I need transparency on an import to SketchUp, it's had to be PNG. I have used a lengthy process in Photoshop for turning white background to transparent, mostly for scanned hand drawn artwork, but it's a bit of a chore.

DWG out from SketchUp has segments for arcs in 2D dwg, but real arcs in 3D dwg. That's why you're advised to use that latter when going to CNC software. I've wondered if PowerCADD could leverage that too.

Coming into this late, but if the original pdf is vector based, it can indeed have a transparent background in PowerCADD, It can even be made into PCADD lines with "Explode to Objects". Some pdfs seem to be encrypted to thwart the latter, while pdfs whose source is bitmap won't do either.

One way to see is to export or print pdf from PCADD and place it in another drawing (which is what I often do as a reference). It will only have the line work or fills that you drew visible.
