Select Special Dims

Post by Charles Freeborn » Tue Jun 18, 2019 9:27 pm

Is there / can there be a "select special" for dimensions?
I frequently have several layers with their own dimensions that I'd like to segregate (not put all on a single dims layer) Would be nice to be able to gather up strays via a select special to place on appropriate layer.
Thx.

Try the Selection Filter window (you will find it in your window menu) and check / uncheck the boxes you want. Does that solve it for you?

The selection filter window can be resized, revealing a Select All and a Select None button which might smooth out the road for you, if only a little.

Matt -

The Selection Tool used to have two dots in its icon to let it be clicked to bring up this window, so I have suggested bringing that back as a feature request as it gave quick access to the Selection Filter.

You can also use the Magic Wand Tool (WildTools). This can be setup with 'object type' so it will allow you to select *all items of the type you click on* e.g. dimensions, with the Magic Wand.

Charles,

A technique I use to gather up objects to layers uses the Tornado Tool (WildTools). I set the destination layer of the tool to where I want things to go and I Hide that layer. Then with the tool I just click on objects that need to be moved and they disappear off to the correct layer. I find Live Highlighting of objects means I don't need a selection filter as it's evident what is about to be moved.
