Snap to Grid & Grid Lines

Post by Rik Negus » Wed Aug 21, 2019 6:50 pm

In my 28+ years of using PC I have never used the grid lines or the snap to grid line in the drawing set up.

By default these are on every time I open a new file which happen every time I import a dwg or pdf.

This is annoying and could be easily alleviated by having them turned off by default.

Am I the only one who does not use grid snap and grid lines?

Could we take a poll as to your preference.

Thanks
Rik Negus

I think we should be able to save a stationery file that is used when importing. You could establish default layering, lineweights, view preferences etc that way.

Agree on grid snap and show, but for me the worst is WYSIWYG lineweights being off on dwg import.

I agree with these as well, however the work around is to create a stationary file, and place it in the PowerCADD Stationary file folder

I wish that worked when importing a .dwg file

Hi, I'm totally new here and know practically nuffing. This is my first post so I am hoping you can begin to point me in the direction I need to go in.

I have bought a DWG mapping file and it automatically imports into a powercadd file when I open it. But I do not know how to set the scale on the resultant powercadd file to, say, 1:1250.

I am hoping that someone on here might know the answer?

Many thanks
Charlie

Charlie,

Suggest reading the PowerCADD Tutorial and Documentation.

Look in the PowerCADD Help menu. Which will take you to the files in the PowerCADD Application.

If you have an iPad, I suggest you import all these into your iPad which is the most convenient way to get to them. The files have hyperlinks and being PDFs you can search them.

You get this dialog when you import .dwg
unnamed.png
unnamed.png (122.49 KiB) Viewed 39917 times
draw a window to select the objects that you want
unnamed-1.png
unnamed-1.png (79.65 KiB) Viewed 39917 times
(if you need to zoom or pan to get them all in view, use the magnifying lens or hand tool)
set the desired scale in the input field.
unnamed-2.png
unnamed-2.png (72.02 KiB) Viewed 39917 times
EDIT: After you do this, you might want to visit the Drawing Layout options and check the WYSIWYG lineweights. For some reason this is not checked by default when you import from ACRUD.

Charlie,

You can find all the documentation for PowerCADD and WildTools at

http://www.seqair.com/WildTools/Documentation/Docs.html

This includes reworked documentation and tutorial for PowerCADD which has navigation buttons, table of contents, index, lots of graphics examples, etc. I barely know anything about DWG and this part of the PowerCADD world. I've tried to update the PowerCADD files to the extent I can but there are still many things that are confusing.
