If it's possible to add transparency as a component of gradients, I would find it useful. This is more illustration-y than CADD-y, but there are times when I want to add a fade-out to the edges of a drawing element. This would be useful both in radial and linear gradients for me.

For what it's worth, the Attributes box allows you to add transparency to objects filled with a gradient.

It does indeed. What I want to do is have a gradient that goes from opaque to transparent.

That would be cool, infact, I was JUST looking at a drawing style where this would work very well.

Matt,

We are working in that direction. There are two issues with transparent gradient:

1. Not all output devices support it
2. Performance is not great, as will all transparent (and shadow) attributes.
