Saving down to PC9

Post by Lester Tobias » Wed Oct 02, 2024 4:11 pm

I had a disastrous crash due to an out of memory condition on the 2016 powerbook that I must keep to use PC9. When I fixed the problem I lost an entire section and elevation file. I found a recent copy on the new powerbook that I have (and on which I am beta testing PC10). I thought I could save it over to the old machine through dropbox, but it doesn't let me save down to PC9.

Is there a solution for this?

Can't you open the file in PC10 and do a "save as" and select PC9 as the file type? I just ran a test and was able to do so, and was able to open the new file in PC9.

1. There is no "Save As". I can Save, with the three dots, which basically turns it into a Save As, but the dropdown option for file version only shows powerCADD 10. There is no PowerCADD 9 option.

Save As... should be in the File menu immediately below Save...

If that is not appearing you might want to try deleting PowerCADD 10 and re-installing the latest beta from the link sent to you by AutoDesSys.

Your File menu is missing a few options.
Try deleting the preferences file:
com.engsw.PowerCADD10.plist.

If that doesn't fix it you'll have to contact them and report it as a bug.

Or maybe you don't have the latest build?

To Derek: I couldn't find the preferences file. I checked in the preferences folder but it wasn't there (Macintosh HD>Library>Preferences). I don't know where else to check for it. Maybe it's missing?

To Patrick: I have requested the latest build.

Sorry to be a pain, but I know the answer is out there.

I just received an updated build, and it allowed me to save down to PC9.

Thanks.

I'm glad you got it sorted. For future reference your preferences are in your User library:

[Hard Drive]>Users>[user name]>Library>Preferences

However this Library folder can be hidden so to open it from the Finder use the Go menu and hold down the Option Key.
