Framingham Downtown Common Longitudinal Section and Cross Section, Framingham, MA Rosalie Johnson and Pat Loheed

This was one of several illustrative concept plans showing potential redevelopment of a small historic town common, with a potential public artwork placement. These were included in a $10,000 feasibility study, which secured the funding for a $500,000 historic redevelopment of the key downtown open space. The project is scheduled for completed November 2002. Pictures for the historic church at the end of the common were scanned in and Rosalie captured the proper outline of the iconic church.

We utilized tree, bench and lighting profiles from our existing landscape libraries and were able to study alternative public artwork treatments.

What was finally chosen was much simpler than the elaborate pergola shown in these sections and we think more universal in its appeal.
