Fundamentals of the Gradient Tool

To create a gradient:

  1. Hold down the Option key while selecting the Gradient Tool in the PowerCADD Tool Palette.
  2. Create a gradient by changing the settings (Angle, Color Points, Location, Color, etc.) in the Gradient Options Dialog.
  3. When the Preview Window displays the Gradient you have made, click OK.
  4. You will now have a target cursor. Place the target cursor on a line of the object to be filled with the gradient and click the mouse.

  1. Current Settings – Lets you save or delete Gradient templates that were made from color point value locations on the profile bar and angle setting. These templates are saved and stored in the PowerCADD 2000 application folder in the Gradient template folder.
  2. Angle – The direction of the Gradient specified as an angle. The angle may be entered in this dialog box manually or assigned dynamically after applying the Gradient to an object.
  3. Gradient Profile Bar – Horizontal bar containing the color points of Gradient. You modify a Gradients profile by adding or removing color points from the profile bar or by changing a color point position (left or right) on the profile bar.
  4. Color Point – Lets you add or delete color points on the profile bar.
  5. Add – Click to add a color point to the Gradient Profile Bar. Color points may also be added by clicking on the profile bar.
  6. Remove – Click on a color point to pick it, then press the Remove button to delete it from the Gradient Profile Bar. You can dynamically remove a color point by tearing (dragging) it off the Gradient Profile Bar.
  7. Location – Each color point has a location on the Gradient profile bar expressed as a % location of the bar’s length. You can locate a color point by dragging it’s position dynamically on the bar or by entering a specific value in the location field.
  8. Color – Click on the Color button to open the Mac OS Color Picker Dialog box and specify a value for color points. The value in this color square will update automatically in response to changes made on the Gradient Profile Bar. You can also choose the crayon box to select colors.
  9. Preview – A preview of your Gradient based settings in the Gradient Profile Bar. The preview window is dynamic and will update automatically in response to changes made on the Gradient Profile B
